What can I do about a young robin with missing parents?
About 4 hours ago I noticed this young robin hopping around outside my back porch, without any parents around. It appears to have some small soft feathers here and there on its body, and its not quite the full size and shape of an adult robin, but close. It's chirping periodically. It can sort of flap a short height when its approached by humans, but otherwise doesn't seem able to fly. Over these four or more hours, there have been no robins returning to it, and I still hear it chirping outside right now. How long could this robin survive without food, and is there anything I could do? There might be a rainstorm tonight, so some worms may come out and maybe it can eat those, but... =/ Whats to be done?
Leave him alone. I bet mom and dad are around even if you haven't seen them. This is a fledgling and this is what they do- hop around and look pathetic. It's tough to not actually know but it's the best thing to do.
