When a rat is with her kits what kind of cage should I use?
I planned on breeding my rat (temperament, color, and health of course) but I have heard all sorts of things about where the doe should raise her kits. Some places suggested an aquarium with a topper, others a plastic storage bin thing with wire on top, and some people just regular wire cages. I considered wire cages but think it may be dangerous if a kit climbs up and falls? any ideas?
glass aquriums will work the best for the first 3 weeks of their lives 
make sure its big enough though so they can run around when they get bigger. also make sure theirs an area where the mama can hop up on so she can get a break from the rittens. you can put them in a wire cage after they are about 3.5 weeks old. before then they can fit threw 1/2 inch bars, like one of my babies did 
luckily i saw her do it so i put them in another cage. after you put them in the wire cage they will automatically climb very well. mine have never fallen even when they are hanging upside down haha
