help with Hermit Crab sand and humidifying?

for some reason the sand in my hermit crabs terrarium stinks horribly and i think its because of bacteria so how should i clean it

also I'm trying to humidify my hermit crab tank but i can never get it high enough(around 70 percent I've been told) so how should i humidify my hermit tank i have a waterfall but lately its been making alot of noide like it dosent hane enough water but its already full and i don't want to break it

another thing is i live in the desert (i don't know why ANYONE would sell hermit crabs in the desert but my bro bought them and i'm taking care of them for now) and its hard to humidify any answers would help

Go to a pet store or online and order Eco-Earth. It's make out of coconut fiber. It looks just like dirt. I use this exclusively in my tanks. They LOVE to dig in it and it helps LOADS with humidity. Also, try putting cling wrap over the top of the tank to keep humidity up.
Take out the waterfall. you don't need it. If you put the cling wrap you can get away with 1 or 2 mistings a day. Your crabs also need fresh and salt water. It NEEDS to be aquarium salt- table salt will kill your crabs. I buy the box and mix it in 1 gallon jugs.
I just realized... Do you have them in a glass tank? Plastic tanks will not hold in moisture. Put the crabs in a 10 gallon or bigger. They'll need a couple inches on Eco-Earth that is damp. You want it to be the equivalent of sand castle consistency. If you have any other questions, or are unsure of anything I said, feel free to shoot me an e-mail. Good luck!
