What do I need in a dart frog vivarium,terrarium?
I know I need a drainage substrate then a substrate plants can grow on (See my substrate Q),a hideout like a coco hut,tropical plants like bromelaids and small plants,a thermomiter,driftwood,and a light (not sure what light to get get Ive seen Exo Terra lights what wattage?),water dish,Do I need like a little water pool for them like a moat or a little side pond lined with aquarium gravel.If I do how many in of water?I am getting 2-3 D.auratus,are the ground lovers or do they like to climb?
Well its good that your doing your research about the drainage and all. And also its good your trying to learn more about them before you get them. I would get about a 20 gallon(if your getting adults*4 adults can live in a 20gallon*, juvis need a smaller tank to find food easier) aquarium because they are much easier/better to work with water in. I would get a piece of plexi glass about 1/4 inch thich and get some G&E Silicone(water proof) and put it about 1/4 of the way down the tank (so you have about 1/4 water and the other 3/4 land. Make sure the glass and all is clean and just smooth the silicone out on both sides of the plexi glass (sides and bottom) let it dry and then test it fill it up about 3/4 of the way up with water of the small end and make sure you have no leaks. Thats your little pond area, make sure you have a branch from the land into the water so they can get in and out. They like to climb and be on the ground equally.
