Exo Terrarium for chameleon?
I have my veiled chameleon caged in exo terrarium for a week now.
I have asked people around and i got 2 responds that completely opposite to each other.
One guy said that the terrarium is fatal for my chameleon (as it can develop sickness due to poor ventilation) and it would
be better caged in a screen cage (looked ugly BTW).
But the other guy said that exo terrarium is fine and it is perfect for keeping the moisture in (70% is ideal moisture habitat for chameleon). Plus the screen sometimes can hurt my chameleon feet... So which one is correct?!!!
Right now, i put him in my exo terrarium and i often open the glass window once a day (under supervision off course, so he won't escape).
Obviously aesthetic wise i prefer the exo terrarium... but I care about my pet more.. If it can harm him, i would rather buy a screen cage.
Thanks so much guys!
Veiled chameleons are from Yemen, which is a dry, desert country. They don't need as much humidity as other chameleons. You still need to mist them often so they can drink. But a ventilated cage is a much better idea. I built my own with wire mesh, but alot of people use Reptariums. They may not be as attractive as a glass cage, but I've used them too and they work well. Don't buy them in the pet stores. They're way overpriced. Order them online:
