caring for baby Crested Gecko?

Hey,

I got a 6 week old Crested Gecko a couple of days ago and want to know the best way to take care of him, know what to look out for etc.

I mist the cage twice a day at least, and he has small crickets and some baby food (slowly weining on to CGD).

The reason for my concern is that i had a gecko which died of a parasite last week, and although i cleaned the terrarium out, disinfected it and all the decorations too, and put the Reptile Carpet in the washing machine, i am still worried the parasites are still in there and could harm my new gecko.

I have had a crested gecko before and they are great pets and need frequent handling .In my experience the only things I had to look out for is when their shedding leave them alone their body will be a grey colour and their eyes will be blurry just dont handle him while he's shedding. and DEFINETLY look out for mushrooms that grow in the tank as they can kill the gecko immediatly if you see one pick it out and wash your hands.

Its very good that your misting cage as crested geckos need humidity and moisture. Your feeding him the correct food . With mine I fed her mostly baby food more than crickets but keep crickets in their diet. Now with your concern it depends on what you cleaned the tank with but im not too sure if the previous parasite will affect your gecko this is something you should talk to a pet store worker about.

Just a tip. Never use anything from outside as it could have pesticides or microscopic parasites. Those real branches more than likely have microscopic organizes that will harm your reptile and even kill it. It may be cheep decor but will cost $$$ at the vet when it gets infected. Don’t believe me just Google around to find you shouldn’t use real branches from outside
