sand for a Reptile Aquarium? PLEASE ANSWER!?
what type of sand would you recommend for a Aquatic Turtle aquarium. Gravel is a bit boring to me and i would like to try something new. I don't know what type would be less likely to be sucked into the filter and stirred around as easy. Please help?
No sand at all. Its a bad idea. Anything small enough for the turtle to ingest is bad. They have been known to choke or get intestinal blockages from gravel or sand in the tank. Plus sand is very hard to clean. Turtles are messy and poop pretty big. Then it breaks apart and turns to slime if you don't scoop it out that day. You could never keep the sand clean enough.
If gravel is boring you can go with something else that is more decorative. It alot more expensive but you can buy natural river stone type gravel. If you go with the larger pebbles/stones it will cost you more but it looks really nice.
