Fish tank lighting question?
I just got a hood at a garage sale, it came with a UVB bulb that said for reptile use only, i was curious as to whether i could use this bulb on my aquarium or if i'd have to go out and drop the big bucks on a new bulb.
You can't use the UV bulb for your fish, it is a Heat Lamp, used to simulate tropical heat for reptiles and as such will be absolutely no use at all for fish. It will heat the water and raise the temperature too high for the fish.
You need to buy a tube that is intended for fish.
