people who live in la county or whittier only... i need Reptile Supplies but have no money.. i need help..?
ive got a Bearded Dragon ... i want 2 save it ... i found it ...only got a cage food dish .. and a water dish .... i especially need some bedding or some sort of heat... please help .. promise 2 give a best answerr
They need a continued diet that consists primarily of live gutloaded insects and fresh greens that have the proper calcium/phosphorous balance.
If you truly want to save the animal and aren't just looking for a free pet, contact a rescue or a reputable pet shop and have them find it a home with someone who can afford to take care of it. They don't live in cages, only a tank is appropriate and when it is full grown you'll need at least a 30 gallon breeder tank, which is very expensive.
They need full spectrum lighting which can only be gotten from a separate fixture that doesn't produce enough heat, so you'll need another fixture for basking heat. The fullspec bulbs need to be replaced before the light even runs out, so you'll need to be able to afford to get those regularly enough.
For bedding, you need reptile-safe sand, unless the bearded is only a baby, in which case you will need to do carpet or another suitable bottom cover that's nontoxic to pets and that can't be ingested.
Altogether, they're not the lowest maintenance of reptiles, and if you truly care about the animal you will attempt to find the owner or get it a home with someone who is knowledgable enough to give it proper care and has enough money to do so!
