Reptile Egg

I just found a "nest" of eggs on the ground in a landscape bed around an office building. The eggs were laying in some wood chips and there were little tufts of white soft feathery stuff. Most of the eggs had been killed by a predator, but there where two whole eggs left. Some people may disagree with me, but I wrapped the two eggs up in a soft cloth and brought them home. They seemed cool to the touch, so I am not sure the critter inside is still alive. I now have them in a warm soft blanket. The eggs are the size of regular chicken eggs you buy at the grocery store. They are very light brown/cream colored. What kind of animal (bird/reptile I presume) lays eggs on the ground in the conditions I have described? Do you think they may have survived and have a chance to hatch?

For the record- I live in South Florida.
