heating for my Sinaloan milksnake?
I am getting a baby sinaloan milksnake. I don't hav anyroom for it in my house so I'm moving all my reptiles to my garage. But it gets pretty cold in there at night. I live in california. It drops to like 55 at night in my garage. I already hav an undertank heater for the tank but I kno that is not enough. Wat else should I get. I was thinking of getting a ceramic Heat Emitter to hav on at night. But how many wattts should I get for it. I dunno how much it will need to put it in the right temperature.
O and also does this type of snake need a 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night cycle? or can I just leave it how it is?
All snakes need a 12 hour light cycle. If you really feel that the undertank heater won't take care of the warm side, you can get an emitter. I think they come in 50 watt size, and that should be sufficient to bring the cool side temps up to the 70's. You might want to have another thermostat with a temp probe for that side of the tank to regulate the heater there. You certainly wouldn't be able to use the one regulating the UTH. You won't want an unregulated heat source either.
