Why is it legal to feed reptiles live invertabrates but not legal to feed live vertebrates eg mice?
The basic reason is that people feel vertebrates are more able to feel pain and fear than invertebrates are.Whether this is true or not is debatable.
Some of the answers you have got are clearly from people in the USA where feeding live rodents to reptiles is still seen as OK.In general American animal welfare laws are not as humane as ours in the UK-as proved by the fact that cropping dogs ears,docking their tails and declawing cats are all legal there and illegal here (docking being banned last year,cropping and declawing have been banned for over 100 years).
