A few questions about Linux on PS3?
Im sick of having an old desktop pc that is slow, only 40GB hard drive, and a classic CD drive...
But i have a 80 GB PS3, and i know you can put linux on it and use it as a computer, but i got a few questions...
Im thinking of putting Linux Ubuntu on the PS3 instead of Yellow Dog, ive heard not all things are compatible with yellow dog yet...
if you need an HD ready tv, does that mean you have to use an HDMI cable, or can you use you AV cables plugged into an HD TV?
If you have another OS installed on your PS3, does that make the PS3's main OS (XMB) slow, and games run slow?
And if any of you have another OS on the PS3, Is it fast? and does it do good with a lot of multi-tasking?
Some of your questions are worded weird weird.So im gonna tell you some answers that i think may answer your questions.If your using ubuntu you switch between os.So basically you switch from pc to game console to make a switch for examle from pc to game reboot console and at the boot prompt, type "boot-os-game," then press Enter.If you have other os i would guess that it would be as simple as typing "boot-os-xxx".This is the guide i used and it might answer some or your questions.
